2014 Team Canada Roster Announced

Dauphin, MB - Team Canada has announced the complete roster for the upcoming 2014 IIHF World Championships in Pardubice, Czech Republic from June 1- 7th. Team Canada has finished on the podium for the past 3 seasons, the current longest medal streak of any team in the tournament (2011-Bronze, 2012-Gold, 2013 -Bronze).

While the newest version of Team Canada has several return players from last seasons Bronze winning team, several new faces will see their first IIHF level action.

"This season's identification camps were well attended and some of the strongest competition we've seen in recent years," Nathan Fleck, Executive Director explained, "Since the program has been established in these communities, we still have Team Canada alumni attending the identification camps regularly so we are able to evaluate all players who attend to the IIHF level that we require for our team to be successful. As we've said before, our goal is always to bring a team stronger than the previous season and we feel that the new players added, as well as the development of some of our returning players over the past winter make this team a strong contender once again."

2014 Team Canada Roster Short List Announced

Dauphin, MB - After a solid weekend of evaluating some of the best Canadian roller hockey talent at the Identification Camps in BC and Alberta along with several Unable To Attend player applications, our Men's National Team Program is proud to release the short list of players being considered for a roster spot on Team Canada for the  IIHF World Inline Hockey Championships in Pardubice, Czech Republic June 1-7th.

"We were very appreciative of the support from the Langley Hockey House and Alberta Men's Roller Hockey League in promoting our ID Camps and helping to organize key aspects of the event" said Nathan Fleck, Executive Director NIHA-Canada. "Without the local leagues efforts in their community, we wouldn't have the opportunity to come out and see the hidden talent across our country."

Jason Stephens, Head Coach Team Canada explained the next steps in finalizing the 2014 Team Canada Roster. "Today, we are announcing the short list of 23 players that we feel are in the mix for a roster spot. We will continue this week to have more internal meetings and eventually come up with our final roster, but all the players on the list announced today are being looked at further regarding a potential role within our program this summer."

Team Canada has traditionally attended the IIHF World Championships with a roster of 14-15 players and the 2014 Team Canada is expected to stay true to this trend.

"We're in a great situation with such a solid talent turnout for this years team, so it's going to be tough going while we work our way down to a final roster out of this list of 23 players" Stephens continued. "Each one of these players will be contacted by our team staff directly to let them know how they evaluated and where we recognized their strengths. Players who attended the identification camps or submitted Unable to Attend requests and did not make it onto this list, can contact us if they would like more information on their personal evaluation via phone or email."

Online Officials Clinics a Success!

As you know we have been running online clinics to simplify things and allow for officials to make it to leadership seminars or have small groups of people that want to complete certification together.

There has been people attend these clinics from British Columbia to Quebec and everyone in-between. Because it’s almost impossible to have clinics like this with everyone, we believe this is the best way to get everyone together from all over Canada.

Since the online officials clinics have began only better things have evolved. We now have online exam and submissions, allowing the persons completing them to do them from the comfort of their own homes.  Not only is it better for you but it is easier for us to get things done in a faster more convenient way causing things to run much smoother on both ends.  Seems to be a win for everyone!

Your feedback on these exams and clinics is greatly appreciated for improvements, and we hope to continue to make things as easy as possible.
